Deniz Tuna
Deniz Tuna (1997, Istanbul) began her musical training at the Istanbul State Conservatory of Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts, where she studied composition with Özkan Manav and Mehmet Nemutlu, and worked with Gökalp Kanatsız in electronic music.
She later received a full scholarship to pursue a Master’s degree in Classical Music Composition at Codarts Rotterdam, studying with Robin de Raaff and Klaas de Vries. During her time in Rotterdam, she also worked in electronic music with René Uijlenhoet, and received additional private lessons from Jan van de Putte.
Throughout her studies, she focused on large orchestral writing, dense textures, and structurally intricate forms, while maintaining an active interest in electronic music.
She compose a response to Berio’s Sequenza I for the November Music Festival 2025, where her solo flute piece was performed by Felicia van den End. Her work was also featured at the Opus 111 x Doelen Ensemble event, performed by the Codarts Student Ensemble under Jurjen Hempel. Following the jury’s selection of her piece will receive a professional performance by the Doelen Ensemble in June 2026.
She is currently completing her Master’s studies at Codarts Rotterdam and continues to develop her work through commissions, performances, festivals, and competitions.
